A Philadelphia girl through and through, raised in the Olney section, JoAnne is no stranger to city life. She attended Community College of Philadelphia and Tyler, Temple University's School of Art before shifting over to Information Science at Drexel. She has recently returned to painting and creating artwork. Along the way she also developed a love of nature which is reflected in her photography.
JoAnne works mainly in watercolor and acrylic. She enjoys using mixed media and sometimes builds up the surface of a canvas using paper and gesso to create relief sculpture. She also takes photos, primarily of nature, landscapes and various species. She has recently begun using her photos in her mixed media artwork. Additionally, she dabbles in oils and clay.
Exploration of self, acceptance, newly found spirituality, as well as all of the unanswered questions and the universe's mysteries provide inspiration for JoAnne's artwork. She looks for meaning and patterns in nature and in her interactions with the world. Her greatest happiness is found in helping others which is why she remains employed in public service.
